Erik Peterson, PT

Owner

Erik’s career started at the University of Montana where he was first exposed to the physical therapy profession due to a sports-related ankle injury. After graduating with a BA in liberal studies, his experience in the field stuck with him and he returned to school in Portland, Oregon and eventually earned his degree in physical therapy at Daemen College in Buffalo, NY.

His work and clinical experience includes inpatient rehabs at Healthsouth in Reno, Nevada, The Rehabilitation Institute of Oregon (RIO), Good Samaritan Children’s Nursing Center, and the Alzheimer’s and dementia unit at Regency Park assisted living center in Portland. His acute care experience includes Good Samaritan (OR) and Southampton Hospital. Erik’s outpatient experience over the years includes the Northern Rockies Rehabilitation and Athletic Training Center in Missoula, Montana, and Active Care Physical Therapy in San Francisco where he had the good fortune to learn amongst some of the nation’s top football athletes of the time.

Locally Erik completed the hospice volunteer program and has worked for the Child Development Center of the Hamptons, Southampton Hospital’s acute care and outpatient orthopedic clinics, and had a year working with a local chiropractor before starting his own home care business. This developed into a combined home care and outpatient physical therapy practice.

Continuing education includes coursework in kinesiotaping, Mulligan concept for mobilization with movement, advanced topics for treatment of shoulder disorders, balance and vestibular rehabilitation, and ergonomic evaluation. Erik was a featured speaker at East Hampton Town’s forum on aging, and spoke at the Mayor’s luncheon in 2017. Erik has two children that keep him young and active on the water or participating in many of the sports East Hampton has to offer.

John Basti, PT

Physical Therapist

John’s career started at Susquehanna University playing varsity sports. Multiple injuries over 4 years exposed John to physical therapy and the world of rehabilitation. John graduated with a bachelor’s in business science but decided to pursue physical therapy instead. John graduated PT from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn. He started his work at Columbia University Medical Center rotating through Cardiopulmonary Service, Neurologic Institute, and finally the Orthopedic Service where he found his interest in shoulder and elbow rehabilitation.

While keeping ties with Columbia, John moved on to St. Vincent Medical Center in Staten Island and became Assistant Coordinator of Rehabilitation Services. He then opened a private practice named Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Associates of New Jersey, and subsequently a second practice in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.

In pursuit of more communication, learning, exchange of information, and fellowship, John was one of three founding members of the American Society of Shoulder and Elbow Therapists (ASSET). In addition, he was adjunct clinical faculty at the Columbia University Physical Therapy Program from 1999–2001 and SUNY Downstate from 1993–2010. John was appointed clinical faculty at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University Department of Orthopedics from 2002–2015, and lectured nationally and internationally during those years. Since 2009, he has continued as guest faculty at Cleveland Clinic. He was a peer reviewer of The Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery from 2011–2016. In 2004, he was the Chairman of the First International Congress of Shoulder Therapy in Washington DC. John also continues to be a member of the European Shoulder and Elbow Society (EUSSER) and has consulted, contributed, and been published in multiple textbooks and articles over the years. He comes to Peterson Physical Therapy with 42 years of experience in Physical Therapy.

Chelsea Roth, CEP

Certified Exercise Physiologist

Chelsea graduated from Keene State College cum laude in Keene, New Hampshire in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education with a major in Exercise Physiology. Chelsea has been working in the physical therapy industry for 11 years now as a Certified Exercise Physiologist. In 2018 Chelsea published her first research study in the Journal of Physical Activity Research on the topic of physical activity and sedentary behavior. She presented this study at a National American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) conference in Rhode Island.

Chelsea brings energy, positivity, and a strong team mentality to everything she does. Chelsea is a sport enthusiast and previously was a snowboard instructor at Stratton Mountain in Vermont, where she developed a passion for helping others build confidence and have fun. When she’s not working, she stays busy keeping up with her adventurous two year old son, who keeps life exciting and full of activity. Chelsea is also CPR and first aid certified.
